How Youp handles your journal, account, community activity, and app data.Last updated: August 9, 2026

Youp is built for private reflection. This policy explains what information we process, why we process it, and the choices available to you.

Information you provide

We process account details, journal entries, voice reflections, feedback, and community posts you choose to submit. Private journal content is not published to the community unless you explicitly share an entry.

How Youp uses information

We use information to operate the app, generate personalized reflection responses, build memories and weekly mirrors, synchronize your account, prevent abuse, process subscriptions, answer support requests, and improve reliability.

Privacy-safe product analytics

To understand reliability and improve the product, Youp may send limited analytics events to Google Firebase/Google Analytics and process or store related operational data through Supabase and Vercel. These events may include a pseudonymous app-instance identifier; app version and build; device type, operating system, and language; a coarse country or region inferred by service providers; app lifecycle and screen or navigation activity; onboarding progress; and subscription status only after it has been verified by Youp's backend. Analytics events do not include journal text, voice recordings or transcripts, email addresses, raw purchase tokens, exact location, or advertising identifiers.

Website and mobile consent choices

On the Youp website, optional analytics starts only after you explicitly consent. If you decline, it remains off. In the mobile app, advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization remain denied; Youp does not use these analytics events to build advertising profiles.

AI processing

Text or voice content may be processed by service providers that help Youp generate responses or transcriptions. We limit the information sent to what is needed for the requested feature and require providers to handle it under applicable data-protection terms.

Sharing and community

Community sharing is optional and controlled entry by entry. A shared post may be translated so people using other supported languages can read it. We do not sell your personal information.

Storage, security, and retention

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. We keep data only as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the platform.

Your choices and rights

You can update account information, control notifications and community sharing, request access or deletion, and contact us about privacy rights that apply where you live. Deleting data may require identity verification and may be subject to limited legal retention requirements.

Children and wellness notice

Youp is not directed to children under the minimum digital-consent age that applies in their location. Youp is a journaling and reflection companion, not therapy, medical care, or a crisis service.
